Happy Birthday Ron Arad


Today is the fifty-second birthday of Lt. Colonel Ron Arad. He has been missing in action since 1986, when he ejected from his damaged plane while on a mission over Lebanon. In the interim both of his parents died without ever learning his fate. His wife and daughter--the latter of which was too young at the time to have any memories of him--await his return.

Above is Boaz Sharabi singing Ehud Manor's Keshetavo, in which he looks forward to the day of his return when az nashir be-ron ("then we will sing with Ron," with ron meaning joy as well as being Arad's first name).
