Good news: Iran to arm Lebanon
Lebanese media are reporting that Iran may arm Lebanon with a variety of weapons, including advanced anti-aircraft systems. In the past Lebanon was armed by the United States and Europe. Hezbullah favors having Iran and Syria play a role in arming Lebanon, while the parties in the coalition are opposed.
In May, Hizbullah chieftain Hassan Nasrallah suggested that the government of Lebanon turn to Iran for aid, which, he said, would “gladly” arm Lebanon. Nasrallah said that if voters chose Hizbullah, the party would work to strengthen the Lebanese army with help from Iran. This promise angered Lebanon's coalition parties, most of which oppose Syrian and Iranian control in Lebanon.
But perhaps the strangest part of this article is the bottom line:
